Had a short break and stayed two nights at Tembusu House. The House sits slightly higher up the hill within the property. To get to the main area, the swimming pool or the parking area, i had to walk down and back up each time. Not a difficult walk but after a few rounds i could definitely feel the climb. The path also passes underneath the owner’s private residence. There is a proper walkway so it doesn’t feel intrusive, though from certain angles the residence partially blocks the hill view. Not a big issue for me though. The house itself is spacious and very charming. The bedroom is upstairs while the kitchen and bathroom are downstairs, connected by wooden stairs, which gives it a very old kampung-style feel. The deck, breeze, surrounding sounds and greenery made the whole place feel very relaxed and cosy. I also read at the patio that Tembusu House was the first original house built on the property. Amenities were quite complete. The kitchen had basic utensils and cooking equipment including pans, a rice cooker and even essentials like oil, sugar and salt. I usually enjoy this type of staycation and also knew food options nearby are limited, so i came prepared with my own ingredients and cooked during the stay, which i enjoyed a lot. Since the place is surrounded by nature, i did encounter a couple of insects, even a millipede I think, inside the house. They ran off quickly once i noticed them so it wasn’t really a problem. The main challenge during my stay was the heat. The weather was extremely hot and because of the open concept, the sun really blazed through in the afternoon. The heat lingered well into the evening and even at night I could still feel it while lying in bed. The ceiling fan sits above the bed but the mosquito netting blocks some airflow, so i relied quite a bit on my portable hand fan. A standing fan might be helpful during hotter periods. Water pressure was slightly slow but still manageable. The water dipper helped a lot. Communication with management is limited to working hours. On the second night the gas ran out while i was cooking. I texted immediately but didn’t get a response at the time. Luckily some staff were passing by and helped sort it out quickly, which i really appreciated. I only received a reply on WhatsApp the next day. The swimming pools were very nice and both had beautiful views. There are two within the property. The lower one is larger and felt a bit more private, while the upper pool is smaller but offers a better panoramic view since it sits at the main common area. From what i observed, Berembun House might be suitable for those who want easier access and good views as it sits right next to the main pool. The trade-off might be less privacy since that’s where guests and staff tend to gather. Driving up involves an uphill road but it’s paved so i didn’t have any issues getting there by car. There is also a small parking area and getting around the property was manageable. Overall the views here are beautiful and the environment is very peaceful. If not for the unusually hot weather during my stay, i think i would have enjoyed the open spaces even more. Still, it was a nice and refreshing break. I just spent quite a bit of time trying to keep myself cool.
If you ever feel completely burned out and need a minute to switch off, go to The Dusun. Beautiful hidden lodges in the jungle. Each has it's unique experience. Perfect for people who enjoy nature, privacy and space. During our stay there were only two group of guests. in such huge area it felt like we were the only one there basically and had two pools just for ourselves. Rooms were clean, the dining area has a stunning view at the sunset and whole place is well taken care of. Staff is very welcoming. they finish in fact their shift at 5pm but they responded to me on Whats App seconds after I asked them about something. I’m rating this 5/5 because that’s what I expected and needed. However I'm going to point couple things some people would feel dissatisfied about: - there is WiFi, but it’s signal is so weak you would download first tomb raider game in two weeks - lodges are an open space concept, which means there are many holes for insects. We didn’t encounter any though, staff provides you with 3 different repellents. Mentioning that because many people can feel uncomfortable about it. - I don’t know how about other lodges, but in Berembun we didn’t even notice a single mosquito during our 3 days stay. (November 2025) - There is no restaurant. They partner with one and you can order food for breakfast lunch and dinner through whats app they day before. If this bothers you, you always have your own kitchen in a lodge. - We had a lizard, we named it Jessipa. She was hanging around on our ceiling and pooped on the bed once every night, the same hour and the same place. I have to say it was funny.
Visited Dusun 10 years ago and revisit it again in mid-SEP. Still is one of the best places where you can experience serinity and tranquility at this resort. Just relax and forget about daily matters for couple of days. Immerse in the beauty of nature and slow down your pace. Suggest to bring your own food to cook although you may call for catering services. Definitely will come again.
